Verstappen capitalized on the situation to secure his first podium of the season, finishing third behind Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton. McLaren’s questionable strategy also drew criticism from Piastri and puzzled other drivers like Antonelli. Despite other teams opting for intermediates as well, Red Bull remained confident in their choice of slick tires, ultimately proving successful.
